Operations Coordinator

Job Description

    • Pre-summer: plan and prepare logistics, including master schedules, and proactively organize for summer program events and communications with incoming summer staff
    • Work with Program Director to create daily and weekly schedules for distribution
  • Manage facility usage, technology and other equipment requests; provide basic technology support
  • Manage inventory for class, office, and art supplies
  • Assist in planning and implementation of Teaching Fellow Orientation
  • Assist in planning and leading Grade Level Challenges and College Visits
  • Plan logistics and training for Back to School Night and Family Conference Night
  • Serve as point-person for questions and concerns related to daily operations for teachers and students
  • Assist with logistics of community blocks
  • Oversee Program Assistant schedules and duties
  • Attend daily briefing meetings with administrative team
  • Facilitate effective communication between teachers, students, and administration
  • Work with Dean of Students to implement comprehensive attendance and homework tracking system through Gsuite
  • Assist with management and coordination of volunteers, students, adults, and parents
  • Substitute teach as needed
  • Assume other community responsibilities as needed or assigned

Qualifications

  • Demonstrates leadership, motivation, maturity and responsibility
  • Excellent communication and organization skills 
  • Ability to assume responsibility without close supervision
  • Currently enrolled in undergraduate program or recent graduate 
  • Proficiency with Google suite, Google Drive, and Google Classroom
  • Proficiency with Zoom and Google Meet
  • Prior experience with Breakthrough strongly preferred
  • Dedication to the spirit and the goals of the program
  • Fluency in Spanish, Vietnamese, Bosnian, or other languages is a plus

Schedule

  • Pre-Summer: Occasional remote work between April 15, 2023* and May 12, 2023*
  • Onsite preparation: May 15, 2023* – June 5, 2023
  • Retreats and Orientation: June 6, 2023 – June 23, 2023
  • Summer Sessions: June 26, 2023 – August 4, 2023
  • Celebration: August 5, 2023 (full day)
  • Wrap-Up: August 7, 2023 – August 11, 2023

*depending on availability

Compensation

  • There is a $2,500 stipend for this position, paid in weekly installments. You can apply for up to an additional $2000 through the Elkin Teaching Fellowship (need-base) and there may be the possibility of an AmeriCorps Education Award of $1,300.
