Our Teachers
Breakthrough Manchester teachers are creative, successful high school and college students from the greater Manchester area and across the nation who devote their time to learning the art of teaching and creating a learning environment that inspires students and equips them with the skills necessary to succeed. They range in age from fifteen to twenty-two and receive rigorous training and extensive mentoring from professional educators.
Breakthrough is one of the best pre-professional teacher training programs in the nation because teachers are immersed quickly into classrooms regardless of their experience. They learn from experience what works and what doesn’t as a teacher. To achieve success in this environment, Breakthrough employs a team of outstanding professional educators, called Mentor Teachers, who train and support young teachers, and who ensure that classes are productive and meaningful for students and teachers.
The teaching experience at Breakthrough is hard work, but the rewards are endless. Breakthrough students admire their teachers and often form long-term bonds with them. Breakthrough teachers become heroes and role models for students who want to go to college, but who have significant barriers in front of them.
Breakthrough has been named a Top Ten Internship in America by The Princeton Review and participants join a national alumni network of 30,000+ members of the education world and other professional sectors.
