Manchester is an historic mill town nestled in the Merrimack Valley of southern New Hampshire. Dubbed "the Queen City," Manchester is New Hampshire's largest city and home to approximately 110,000 residents. Once named the textile manufacturing capital of the world, Manchester was a major industrial center at the turn of the 20th Century.
Recently, Manchester has once again become a thriving community and is seen as the cultural and commercial cornerstone of a region voted among the top ten places to live in America. Manchester's neighborhoods continue to grow more and more diverse over the years - there are over 70 world languages spoken in Manchester, representing every continent on the globe.
What Manchester lacks in size it makes up for in its location. Only 50 miles to the south is Boston, the largest city and hub of the Northeast. Boston offers endless opportunities for exploration, discovery, and entertainment. The quintessential New England seacoast town of Portsmouth is easily within reach to the east where you can enjoy sunny Atlantic beaches, quirky specialty shops, beautiful gardens and parks, or sitting by the harbor. The town's numerous seafood restaurants and cafes give Portsmouth the title of most restaurants per capita in America. To the north lies the stunning White Mountain National Forest.
Manchester's summer climate is relatively mild. Daily temperatures range from 70 to 90 degrees, with only a smattering of days that break 90. During the night, the temperature can drop as low as 50 degrees.
The city is easily accessible by airplane, bus, and car. The Manchester-Boston Regional Airport is serviced by most major airlines, and is only 20 minutes from Breakthrough Manchester. Boston's Logan Airport is about an hour from Breakthrough. Numerous buses depart nearby terminals to Boston where they connect with Greyhound or Amtrak at South Station. Manchester lies on the interchange of Interstate 93 and New Hampshire Route 101, major highways that intersect the state.
